Thank you for visiting my painting-a-day blog. I am a professional writer and fine artist, with paintings hanging in private collections throughout the United States including New York, Los Angeles, the San Francisco / Bay Area of California, Oregon, Colorado, North Carolina, and Florida.
I work in watercolor, oil, pencil, and colored pencil. Many of my paintings are portraits in watercolor but my subjects also include flowers, landscapes, and military themes.
I live on a farm in western New York with my new husband, who has lived here all of his life; I relocated here from Los Angeles when we married in the spring of 2006. I am in the midst of preparing to paint a series of watercolors of barns in upstate western New York … we are surrounded by an abundance of beautiful barns in various states of repair, disrepair, and the point-of-no-return. They stand patiently, politely requesting to be captured in watercolor.
Our fifty-acre farm is situated on a river, with a stand of woods nearby. Our barn was built in the early 1800′s and will be the subject of a number of my paintings over time.
Meanwhile, via this blog I will share earlier paintings, and new paintings as they come off the easel. This is intended as a “painting-a-day” blog, but I might not be able to maintain that kind of pace. Please bear with me …

I came across your blog through a knitting site. I love your paintings! When I read that you are going to be using the various old barns from western NY as subjects I became so excited. I am originally from that area. I grew up about 25 miles from Rochester and we had two of those old barns on our farm when I was a child. I have always loved barns and whenever I pass them on the road I always look at them. I have also photographed some of them. I like to draw and have attempted drawings of barns over the years. I also love seeing the old school houses that are scattered about our countryside too.
I will be looking forward to seeing your barn paintings. Watercolor is such a lovely medium that can capture the delicate nuances of light so well. You are an expert with it. Thank you for sharing your knitting pages as well. I wish you the best of luck with all your endeavors.
